Hi, I’m new to car audio stuff, and I didn’t get any answers at circuit city or best buy so I thought Id ask around here before I start ebaying…
I have an older dodge Dakota ext cab and so far I have no system in it whatsoever. I do have a sony 444w amp and a sony L410x head unit to install, but so far no speakers.
Since there will be no hip hop played in my vehicle (mostly metal and the 80s new wave) I don’t need apartment complex rattling bass… although I do like it tight and punchy, enough to feel the kick drum when cranked.
I am debating if I should either run the amp into simple full range boxes, like the MTX TS102 or a similar Kicker box… or if I should push a smallish sub enclosure and use the CD unit’s power for the door speakers (4”). I am definitely planning on getting both a better cd player and a more powerful amp… but right now I’m budget-bound and need to start with speakers.
Also, I’m taking a road trip in a couple weeks and I don’t have a lot of time so I wont be needing a custom built enclosure or anything too hard to find.
Any suggestions or advice??? thanks
