Im looking to build a box for my stand. cab chevy 1500.

I have 2 12" Kenwood KFC's and im looking to build the smallest box possible without sounding really shitty.

Could someone give me some help? i was thinking about making it so the bottom is 8 inches wide and it tapers to about 4 inches and im not sure how tall, prolly up to the window. and i need to fit an amp in there also.

also would ports coming out the top sound better? making it sound a bit bigger?

in a truck box typicall subs forward port sideways is the "loudest" setup, but opinions are like assholes everyones got one. but theres a gentleman on this forum doing 151db @45hz with a alpine type R 15 and a zx2500.1 he uses this configuration, i don't have any numbers to give you but i use the same configuration. the best thing you can do find your max dimensions you can use and find your gross volume and i'll do my best to help you with design and figure out whether you've got room to go ported or not.

no, i just found him, screen name is lakota... hes def running a type R 15" i know tommy broke 150 with the single type R 10, and he was running a zx2500.1 i think, but didn't he do it way above 45hz? i thought tommys was a high tuned fart box (no offense tommy) but i could be wrong, if he his 150+ with a single 10 below 50hz, i need to go get a couple of those lol

yeah, if someone could explain to me how to "tune" your box to a certain Hz i would love to know.

I know what Hz are but if your box is tuned to that certain hz does that mean thats when its the loudest?

u wont be able to port 2 12's in a std cab. is urs a real std cab or one of those half *** extended type ones?

i have a single cab chevy and you can only do 1 12 ported if you plan on giving up som leg room 14.5 height 6 top depth 9 bottom depth 55 wide is about as big as you can get without getting things uncomfortable. i also did port out the side.

if you want to spend a little extra you can save a little space using round ports but it will cost a little extra.

alright, but i will prolly use 2 12" sealed then.

i have a 10" infinity sub in it right now and the box is to big, im to close to the stearing wheel and i thought if i made one it would be a bit more comfortable.

I have a truck box for 2 12"s that might work for you. Its 1.03 Cu ft Per chamber and theres room on the front for an amp on each side but its sealed. If you are interested Let me know and id be happy to get pictures.

Measurements

- 49 1/4" long

- 14 5/8" tall

- 8 1/2" deep at the bottom

- 5 1/8" deep and the top

i know lakotas was a ext cab, didn't know tommys was a standard cab. I've got a standard cab and i've done subs forward port up, and subs forward port sideways (really hard to do port forward or subs up when you have very limited depth) and to me subs forward port sideways is still the loudest by ear anyways

Looks nice, kinda hard to see that it goes from 8 to 5 inches, but nice nonetheless.

also does it matter the width of the subs apart? judging from your pics it looks like their 3-4 inches apart, does that really matter?
