So i have an alpine type R being powerd by a kicker ex1000.0. I used a 60 hz track and set the gains as if it were a 450wrms (30v) speaker with a digital multimeter, as i wanted to 'break it in' before i give it full power.
Now i have been told that breaking in isnt really necessery, i went to go and up my gains to around 600rms (34.64v), however when i was doing so, i was really slightly moving the gain control, and it would jump from 30, straight to 38 or a bit higher even though i was barely moving the gain. Is there any obvious reasons why it would be doing this?
Also i use my ipod for all my music and it plugs straight in to my CDA-117. I have been storing the tones on my ipod and using it a the source to set my gains, is this a problem?
Thanks for any help.
