Triple subs set up and componens...opinions plz!

My buddy is looking to purchase three 12's to put in the back of his intrepid, he really wants the SDC2.5's but wants to know what amp to throw them on and if that was a good choice or if there is a higher quality triple spl set-up in the same range that would work out. He has an alpine ida-x305 hu and what components to order to be powered by his phoenix gold sa 3.0x amp. thx again! sub/amp budget is 700-750 and components budget is 100-150. u guys da bomb!

i have heard that three subs wont sound as good as 2 subs

something about phase or some crap

but i had 3 12's and it was sweet might as well do four

I used to run 2 12's and then stepped up to 3 12's and they hit harder, lower, and was just soo much nicer when you pop da trunk!

If you can get an 11 cube net box in there that would be fine for the 3 sdc 15's. then two 8" aeros and your good to go. remember electrical upgrades too. at least a battery. thats 492 shipped though, only 250 for amp. get a good used 2500 watter.

mid to late 90s triple subs was a big hit. now people have figured out more port area is more important. so if between ur wheel wells in a car you have 36-40" you have just enough room for a pair of 12s and a big port.

Three subs will wire to an awkward ohm load after rise the lowest you could wire to is around 3 ohms iirc so find an amp that does rated at 2 ohm

You save money by using 2 sub setups because of the ohm load you achieve with a triple subwoofer setup.

2 Subs, Bigger Box, 1ohm Amp = Just as loud and cheaper

than

3 Subs, Smaller Box, Power needed at odd ohm load.

It will only create an odd impedance if you screw up and buy SVC subs. I just was curious why the sub stage must contain no more and no less than 3 subs. Seems like a pretty arbitrary goal to set for yourself.

back in the day when 3 subs was popular. there was only single 4,single 8, dvc4, and dvc6 which was designed to run 3 subs to a 4ohm load. this is before class d amps and most class a/b were 4ohm mono.

back in these times i ran 4 12" blue thunder 8ohms off a punch 150 @2ohm. i'm showing my age,ahhh.
