tricks for retrieving bolt from engine compartment?

have u jacked it up and looked around from underneath? ive been known to find a bolt or two from just looking from a differnt point of view

im still gonna say try a magnet on a stick.. just poke around in every possible nook and cranny, and then get under the car and do the same think... on a stick will keep it from getting stuck to everything like it will on a strang

id have to say the jacking it up my help.

Just keep looking until you find it.. use a flashlight and look in every possible spot, also find a friend or something to have another set of eyes, as you might be missing it.. otherwise like they said before, use a hose maybe to spray the hell out of everything, or an air compressor with a air gun to push a lot of air through there..

i was just gonna say that
I've tried that many times with the string magnet since i seen the bolt fall. But it just stopped right there still in sight and didn't bounce farther down like the bolt. I had to drive to work early this morning so it could be all gone by now. I guess ill just use one.

i did that during my install......i couldn't find it and ended up running to wal-mart and buying extra terminals. I heard a big metallic thunk under my car as i pulled into work the next day, and when i left my missing battery terminal was laying in the parking lot. most likely you would have heard the terminal hit something if you lost it while driving.
