Tricking amp to see lower impedence

Is there any way to trick an amp into producing its 2 ohm per channel output with a pair of 4 ohm speakers? That is, one speaker wired to each channel. Would wiring a resistor in-line work?

no because you would be wasting power on the resistor...

what ur needing is an accumatch.. u lose about 20-30 percent to heat

you can get the protection taken out. Then, no protection, but you can drop it to a half ohm if you wanted. But I would never recommend. Say bye bye amp!

yes, in general, the concept is known as "transformation".

i find it somewhat difficult to beleive accumatches are so lossy. i know transformers can be made to be very efficient.
