need a new transmission for my 02 Mazda 626...leaving the gym last night and the transmission went out, had it towed in last night, just got off the phone with the guy...$3,490.00 for a new transmission...i cant believe a new ***** for this car is $3k...damit...i was going to try and drive this car for awhile longer...not sure what to do now...

get it rebuilt...should be 1800ish maybe less
nope, 2,400ish, already checked...gonna see if i can track down a used one...but, i dont really want to put that kind of money into this car...it's like my daily beater...might try and find a salvage car or buy a used car...i have been dying to pickup an 03 GTI VR6 like my cousin got a few months ago, this might be my shot...

Junk yard/locator service. You can find cars that have been wrecked and get a great deal. DO NOT pay that kinda money for a new or rebuilt.

well im "in the business" i have been dealing with cars forever, i rebuild at least a car a year...so i have a lot of connections...but for some reason, this particular transmission is going to be a pain in the a**...

i put a call in to a couple a places...

Indeed. Now I remember what you do so finding one shouldnt be that hard. Good luck.

If you shop around you can prob find someone cheaper maybe $1200-1400 and get a warranty on it so you can get it fixed when it dies again (Never had a rebuild ****** that lasted long) that way you just keep getting the shit fixed when it drops on you again.

I had a 96 Taurus that died at 98k had it rebuilt then had it rebuilt again for free at 101k, 114k and it was dying again before I was barely able to roll it into the dealership on a trade.

why did the ****** go out? i was just lookin at mazda 3 wagons for gettin loud... i thought mazda like other import cars were very reliable
I know a lot of people who had issues with Mazdas, from what I have seen and heard they do not have the same 'import reliability' as you get from Honda, Toyota etc.

Yeah let me list for you what has broken on my 3 lets see my compressor died and they had to replace it twice before they got it right and the first time they wired something wrong so my voltage was through the roof 15-16v. Also I put a cold air intake on it and a wire came undone and they took 3 days and charged me $700 to fix it. My shift linkage also decided to come undone but they fixed that under warranty. Just so you know im at 39000 miles and all this has already happened.

Your connections must ****.

car-parts.com - you can find them much cheaper than that if you're willing to drive a bit. This is just one example. I don't know if you have the 6 or 4 cyl. but you can find both for well under $1500
