Again, I agree but the country wasn't so polar then. Now, political agendas/beliefs have made this country so divided it's hard to get a point across or anything accomplished by anyone without severe opposition/criticism.The Whiskey Rebellion wasn't very well thought out either, but it changed the course of this country forever.
I am not so certain. Although history isn't my strongest subject, I think throughout the development of this nation, we have been divided....and that division, imo, is our strength.Again, I agree but the country wasn't so polar then. Now, political agendas/beliefs have made this country so divided it's hard to get a point across or anything accomplished by anyone without severe opposition/criticism.
Hopefully you think that way about blacks too. I guess they are all not bad, but I have yet to meet a "good" cop.Yep, Don't know all the details so it is hard to judge.
As far as defending cops, Lets say he was a bad white cop. If a few are bad do we judge the whole profession?
If so maybe that is what he was doing as well? He figured if a few are bad then they all must be?
What is it with you and racial profiling?Where did I judge a whole race by a few bad apples? I have not judged any race you douche.
were you lying face down on the pavement with another cop kneeling on you? Or were you still sitting in your car? Do you have tinted windows? These are questions that have to be asked when you make your point.People do pick and choose their battles, yes I agree. Values, that's up for debate but seeing how it is Oakland and California, there's little to debate about.
As far as the gun, I've had a gun pulled on me for speeding once when I got pulled over. Obviously I know I'm not a threat whatsoever to him but he doesn't know that. This again regresses into whether or not the cop felt threatened or his judgment on the situation. As of now though it's purely speculation as to what exactly happened short of a full on confession and truthful depositions from the other officers.
True. The Whiskey Rebellion wasn't very well thought out either, but it changed the course of this country forever.
Yes. It will be like this
1) I hope they actually answer
2) I wonder when they will come
3) I wonder if they will come
nDeed. What is it with you and racial profiling?

To clarify, no I was not on the ground and no I do not have tinted windows, and yes I was still in my car with my windows down, during the summer.were you lying face down on the pavement with another cop kneeling on you? Or were you still sitting in your car? Do you have tinted windows? These are questions that have to be asked when you make your point.
You do know California is the most liberal state. That means more people agree with one thing without as much opposition as states that are 50/50 or 40/40/20 or whatever the division might be. Traditionally, liberals are against government intervention, except for in the economy.Uhhhh, so because of their area there is little up for debate? I know thats not what you are getting at, that people in certain areas dont get to choose what they value. Im sure there is a bunch more issues than cops vs civilians. This just happens to be the issue at hand.
And there you have it, he didnt know what to expect. Im sure you have watch spike tv, where the officers have walked up on vehicles and instantly been shot. He was protecting himself and being , your situation was not like this one. He didnt have a reason to pull a gun out then, if he didnt have it out at the beginning. To clarify, no I was not on the ground and no I do not have tinted windows, and yes I was still in my car with my windows down, during the summer.

When you get a bunch of people together with same beliefs, some things go unnoticed and some things are amplified is what I'm getting at. But that discussion might be more psychological/physiological and is for anther day.
I think there are a lot of factors in play why people made such an outcry over this but at the end of the day he will be tried just like anyone else accused of a crime.
Too many factors to bring into light here and honestly, I don't feel like talking about them all. I just wanted to take you off your assumption train, which by the looks of it I did.And there you have it, he didnt know what to expect. As far as your other point, yeah that is for another day, or at least another thread. In a way it has something to do with this, and in another way it doesnt.
I think you got your politics wrong...To clarify, no I was not on the ground and no I do not have tinted windows, and yes I was still in my car with my windows down, during the summer.

I was never on the assumptions train, I watched the video and saw what everyone else saw. I still say he had no reason to pull out a gun in that situation, a noise? Come on, why did he pull it and aim it at the person on the ground, he didnt look up and around his focus was down the whole time. How are you missing these small details.Too many factors to bring into light here and honestly, I don't feel like talking about them all. Onlookers possibly made enough noise to threaten him, or the detainees said something, we don't know. He obviously thought he was justified for some reason pulling out his gun, even though his judgment may be up for scrutiny when he is on trial.
The liberal agenda supports more goverment intervention that just economics...much social policy changes, such as pollution limits are "liberal" ideas.Ok. Correct me if I am wrong.
