make sure you shop around yourself for "market value" They are going to try to stick it in you and break it off. Dot feel you have to accept their first offer. Show them what they are selling for at the dealer, because to replace it, youll have to pay that amount. Dont bother with private sellers for this purpose, you want to find 5 cars that have a good price on them and are the same condition as your car was!!!!!! Do your homework, and dont let the insurance company screw you over, that is their job.

FUKKING WORD!! they offered me $1200 first for the 280zx and even though that was more than I paid for it there was NO way I could come close to replacing it for that. They *****ed and I just told them "find me one exactly like mine and within 20K on the odometer and just buy it for me, I don't care if you pay $100 for it". They called me back a little over a week later and said they couldn't find one, at all... so then they said something like $245X and I took it...

The most I have ever had to deal with was someone taking a bat to my driver side mirror. Wasn't worth going through insurance but not a total vandalism. It's horrible what people do , I hope they were drunk at least , because any sober idiot that does vandalism for no reason should just cross I4 blind folded.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm definitely gonna start looking around dealerships for similar cars. Hopefully I can come out on top too. Cuz when I talked to the insurance lady on the pohone she was talking about $3400 of damage which was about 100% of the worth of the car. I bought it for 1850 so maybe i can make $1k or so in the process.
