Total Noob...Need amp help!!

I'll be straight up and say i don't know shit about car audio. So idk what kind of amp i should get for my system.

Car: 350z

Head unit: Kenwood DNX5160 (in-dash just installed yesterday)

Subwoofer: Two 10 inch Alpine Type R's

Now, guy at the place who installed my HU recommended I get 4ohm Type r's if i'm going to be running two of them. Is this a good recommendation? (4ohm vs 2ohm)

Lastly, I need an amplifier to complete the system (i'm keeping stock door speakers). I'm not really trying to spend more than 500, but I definitely want a good quality amp. Preferably new not used...can anyone reccomend products in that price range?

if dual 4 ohm get something that is around 1200-1500 watts at 1 ohm

and dozens of soundstream amps just make sure they are around 1200-1500w RMS @ 1 ohm like fronty said

only $230? are you sure a $230 amp is going to be of high quality? i'm not doubting you. I'm just sayin...i always believed you get what you pay for. So when everyones tellin me i'm gunna have to pay atleast 500 for a good quality amp for 2 10's, i'm a little shocked when u recommend a $230 one

The Audioque AQ1200D is $250. And yes, it's pretty high quality.

And yes, buy the 4 ohm dvc Type Rs. Doing so will allow you to wire to 1 ohm.

Yeah, for a good amp you'll be paying $500for a name brand retail or from a B&M store. But it is possible, especially when buying online, to pay much less for even better quality. Just search these forums for Audioque amps... you will find nothing but positive remarks, it's far and away one of the most suggested amps. If money isn't an issue, than more power to ya. But if you want a really good deal, the people in this forum will point you in the right direction.

The Brutus is $280 shipped on SonicElectronix, it's CEA rated and sonic's an authorized dealer. You can find that Polk on OnlineCarStereo for $330 shipped and they are an authorized dealer. The Cadence is $260 shipped from woofersEtc and they as well are an authorized cadence dealer. Stick around and others will pour in with some good, possibly even better, suggestions.

I have a stealth box from zenclosures.com that's made to fit two type r's without taking up the entire trunk.

Just curious; How much are you paying for those Type Rs anyway?

$99 on crutchfield. you got a better place?
