It is also a good idea to run a small inline fuse on the remote wire, 1A fuse would be sufficent.

im sure ill be back with a thread entitled...
i just shorted out my brand new car...
What exactly wires are we talking about?? The speaker wire??ahh... now for taping the wires... in my current accord they are justrandom colored wires... so how do i know which is + - ???
also... i can just sort of wind the speaker wires around to tap into them
and wrap it up in electric tape???
And our reply to that will be......HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....BAAHAHAHAHAHAH //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hilarious.gif.02a037aad04aa96f19982b298a3d70a8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hilarious.gif.02a037aad04aa96f19982b298a3d70a8.gif

And BTW, that isn't a very good way to "tap" into wires. I personally prefer to use connectors like THIS.
just connect everything but take the FUSE out of the fuse for the POWER WIRE in the engine compartment, then just pop the fuse back in, no sparks (well at least for me).
if i were you, i would get a 1~5 amp fuse, solder your REM wire (that goes to the REM terminal on the amp) to it... then shuv it in where the fuse box has that "switched 12v" (meaning its on when the car is on and off when off) so there IS a fuse, WHERE its SUPPOSED to be and it will look fine. then just run the wire to the trunk. no heatshrink no electrical tapel. make sure you have PLENTY of wire. i always cut mine short and have to re-do it =p
just use some kinda lightbulb (little one for a 12v source maybe? or an LED WITH a resistor for 12v... maybe just a multimeter, thats what id do) to find the switched source.
should be quite simple.
and to find the +\- speaker wires;
and usually, the speaker has the + - labeled on the connector or near it. if not, use the multimeter again. or just look for the one with the black stripe on it. thats almost DEFINATLY the ground.
thats what i did. the GHETTO way!!But i didnt use a fuse.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gifjust connect everything but take the FUSE out of the fuse for the POWER WIRE in the engine compartment, then just pop the fuse back in, no sparks (well at least for me).
