total noob easy question... please help...

well... i pick up the car in about a half hour... i doubt ill get to messing

around with this tonight... but you guys have been super helpful... i

really appreciate it... im sure ill be back with a thread entitled...

i just shorted out my brand new car...

ahh... now for taping the wires... in my current accord they are just

random colored wires... so how do i know which is + - ???

also... i can just sort of wind the speaker wires around to tap into them

and wrap it up in electric tape???

It is also a good idea to run a small inline fuse on the remote wire, 1A fuse would be sufficent.

now we are getting crazy with inline fuses... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/imdaman.gif.bc6c552e19aa4ad8c47461144f40eb1a.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/imdaman.gif.bc6c552e19aa4ad8c47461144f40eb1a.gif

can i get this stuff at radioshack???

What exactly wires are we talking about?? The speaker wire??

And BTW, that isn't a very good way to "tap" into wires. I personally prefer to use connectors like THIS.

im sorry, but that connector shown (otherwise know as scotch locks) are junk IMO. If you are going to tap into a wire, strip a small section of insulation and solder the other wire onto it. The cover the area with electrical tape.

i saw those wire splicers on radioshack.com too... but they invovle cutting

the wire thats already connected... i didnt want to cut anything if i didnt have

to...

i was referring to the speaker wires yes... i dont want to wire it backwards...

i did get the car yesterday... but it was raining all night... today is a beautiful

day so after work i may take a shot at this... ummm... now about hooking

power and ground and stuff... whats the proper order to plug things in???

i was thinking... take the fuses out of the amp... connect the power to the

battery... connect the power to the amp... connect the ground to the ???

somehow connect that turn on wire... put the fuses back in the amp???

would that blow my car or amp up???

just connect everything but take the FUSE out of the fuse for the POWER WIRE in the engine compartment, then just pop the fuse back in, no sparks (well at least for me).

if i were you, i would get a 1~5 amp fuse, solder your REM wire (that goes to the REM terminal on the amp) to it... then shuv it in where the fuse box has that "switched 12v" (meaning its on when the car is on and off when off) so there IS a fuse, WHERE its SUPPOSED to be and it will look fine. then just run the wire to the trunk. no heatshrink no electrical tapel. make sure you have PLENTY of wire. i always cut mine short and have to re-do it =p

just use some kinda lightbulb (little one for a 12v source maybe? or an LED WITH a resistor for 12v... maybe just a multimeter, thats what id do) to find the switched source.

should be quite simple.

and to find the +\- speaker wires;

and usually, the speaker has the + - labeled on the connector or near it. if not, use the multimeter again. or just look for the one with the black stripe on it. thats almost DEFINATLY the ground.

i assume you mean fuses like these... so how do you solder to a encapsulated

fuse??? about the speaker wire... the wires are like blue, yellow, orange and red... hmmm... maybe ill try searching a wire diagram for the car...

thats what i did. the GHETTO way!!But i didnt use a fuse.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

does it matter which side of the fuse i wrap it around???

i could potentially use the windshield wipers, radio, ???

supa c... so you just have a wire jammed in a fuse hole???

do you have the inline fuse on that wire too???
