Hey guys. I need someone who is very good with Torres to help me. I have 2 sundown x 10's v1. I want to build a box for them. I drive a hatchback vehicle. As far as Torres, one sub needs 24^2 of port area. Would 2 subs then need 48^2 of port area? Also one sub has a displacement of .21^3 ft. Would 2 subs be .42? Lastly... For port length does that include the entire length Of the port if it wraps around? Meaning some boxes have just a straight slot some have more of a curve or L shape inside. Would I add all sides of the length for a total length???I know these are noob questions I'm 90% sure I'm right but I just wanna ask to be sure. If ANYONE can make a good Torres print with the specs needed for these 2 subs I would be so grateful. I need roughly 3.25 cu ft of box after displacement and port.

BTW I want to do subs on top and port in the front of box. I read that is the loudest in a hatchback. My hatchback space to work with is 20"H 30"D 38" W that's with zero room left. I want the box to be tall since the subs will be on top if that even really matters.

use a 6 inch pvc port.

15H x 24W x 26D

one 6 inch port 19 inches long

sub up port back double baffle.

should end up with 31.35hz at 3.31 cubic feet which leaves you a bit of room to add bracing which will bring your tuning up to be around 32hz after your done and your displacement closer to 3.25 cubes net.

With a round port, you dont need anywhere close to the amount of port area you are wanting to do.

You can literally build a 4 10s wall as well tuned to 28hz with a 10 inch round sonotube port if you maximize your space you provided.

Thank you for your reply Jeff. I'm not really a big fan of pvc ports :/ I tried one once with an 8 inch and wasn't too impressed. I would like to try a L vent for this build, although I could build both and see what one is better sounding. If I go with an L shaped vent do I have to add all the sides and input the value into Torres?

With a slot port that you'd like to do. Sounds like your asking about number of common walls. Common walls is only as viewed by the opening or face of the port. Also a port bends around the box if the port needs to be longer than the side of the box it's on. No additional calculations are needed for that. Just make sure if your adding 45's in the corners that it's taken into account in the port turn to avoid bottle necking the port.

was it designed properly? You might have too much port area for what you were trying to do. You need MUCH LESS port area with round ports. Too much and you can completely lose all output and sound quality.

Doing it right is necessary. Dont write it off just because of a failed design.
