Torn on what to do. Opinions please!

I have a few options available to me and I am just not sure what I should do. Want it to be the best performance (sq) for my buck. Basically, get a new amp or new sub.

Have a Type R 15 running on Alpine 1000W Mrd-m1005 .....Thinking of getting another of the same amp and running it to each coil giving the sub 700 per coil....

Or

DD3515 running on 1000W

4.2 cubes 36hz (approx)

 
The type R is rated for 700 watts RMS. That's both voice coils combined. Giving 700RMS per coil wouldn't help you. Your existing amp is alright for your sub. I assume you're running at 4 ohm?

If you truly want 'SQ' you may want to try a different box for your sub - such as a sealed one. If you want to get louder, you'll probably have to look at a second sub and another amp to run it.

 
I had a sealed box at one time with a 12 and didn't really like it. My aero port setup is what Im using now and currently like. Thanks for your response. I can reach the subwoofers limits up around 29 on the volume control for most hard hitting songs. Signs of me needing a new woofer that has more output.

Btw, I am running 2ohm. Have been for 2 years.

Enlighten me? Ive rarely experienced the true difference between spl and sq. My setup rocks my car and is very quiet outside the vehicle. Also, seems it hits lower notes in most songs but misses out some of the lowest of the lows such as Late night tip. Is the Type R just not an sq sub??

they're not SQ at all, they're more intended for an SPL setup. The Type X would be the SQ offering from Alpine. I've never heard the Type X, but i've heard the Type R, and it sounds like ***.
