Took apart a blown type r and nothings wrong???? WTF!

well i hooked the sub up to 1 channel and circuited it at a 2 ohm resistance and then 8 ohm resistance. The distortion was present with both settings.

I read on another site that someone had fixed a slightly bent former by playing and it took about a week to fix itself. Do you think if i built a box to type r specs and threw it in there, it would fix it self?

Also, i think there is a good possibility the cones could be rubbing together because of being in a sealed enclosure which was too small. Could i possibly take off the dust cap and test the sub without it on to see if thats the problem, and if it is the problem replace the dust cap with a smaller one?
