how tightly did you have it in the box? my bud had a cheepo qlogic and the screws started to come out made the woofer sound like *** it was a type r too. i made new holes and it sounded beter.

What type of enclosure was it in? are you using that enclosure now? I think you mighta messed up a good sub.

Actually with Type Rs if you dont totally destroy them ripping it apart if you can glue back the surround they go back together. The spider and VC screw on. Good luck realigning the VC without removing the dustcap.
Again what size and type of enclosure was it in, and have you looked at it?
Looks good to me!!! Break out the CA glue and slap it back together. LOL . I know for a fact that alpine dosent use the correct glue to hold there surrounds down. It may have been the surround coming apart from the basket or the cone and that was the reason for the noise.
Also isnt the Type R double coned? If so maybe they were hitting each other and making the noise.

it was in a small sealed enclosure. Don't have the exact measurements at the moment but i know it was not ideal for a type r. I will get pictures of the motor structure tommorow.
It was ran on high frequency. i had the crossover at 250 hz with the LPF on (For about 2 days before noticing). I had the amp screwed in facing the other way becuase my battery is on the right side of the car and I thought i had it at 50 hz but i thought wrong. (I'm young and i still have alot of mistakes to make and learn from, taking apart this woofer may be one.)
What damage would high frequency do to the woofer if any?
