High frequencies will not damage the sub.it was in a small sealed enclosure. Don't have the exact measurements at the moment but i know it was not ideal for a type r. I will get pictures of the motor structure tommorow.
It was ran on high frequency. i had the crossover at 250 hz with the LPF on (For about 2 days before noticing). I had the amp screwed in facing the other way becuase my battery is on the right side of the car and I thought i had it at 50 hz but i thought wrong. (I'm young and i still have alot of mistakes to make and learn from, taking apart this woofer may be one.)
What damage would high frequency do to the woofer if any?
check your RCA Cables, i had a buddy who was running very nice am and subs and they were playin all distorted like, and after many trips the the car audio shop and lots of trouble shooting we figures out it was his RCA cable had been cut into half way by a peice of metal, we saved his 1,200 dollar system by replacing the RCA'sjust recheck the connection and all the way down,
I will try to get to the tinsel leads. They are in that little box which is a ***** to get into.High frequencies will not damage the sub.
Can you get any shots of the tinsel leads? They may have been getting worn and not have a good connection. There could also be something in the gap that caused issues but the coil doesn't look scuffed at all.
call me a noobie, but what is the former? If hasn't been mentioned maybe slightly bent former
It is the tube that the coil is wrapped around.its not the rca becuase i currently have an sx which sounds fine.

So i decide to take apart my "blown" type r because it sounds like dookie.
I took the cone, spider, and voice coil off and have it still together as one piece. I took a look at the voice coil and there seems to be nothing wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
I was expecting it to be warped or fried but i don't think it is.
When i played it before tearing it apart it sounded as if i had the gain turned way to high on the amp but it was down all the way. I was only running 300 watts to it and it was just makin a farting type of noise, as if there was a bad connection.
There is nothing wrong with the amp because it powers the sub i have in my car just fine.
Any suggestions towards what could be wrong?
Oh yea i will be posting pics later to show whats up.
