too much power?

No, a speaker can handle much more than its rated power when you use a xover to cut out the low frequencys, even being run full range they can typically handle alot more then they are rated for. Just dont try to run low frequency test tones at more than a speakers rated power for extended periods of time.

If your gains arent properly set, then sure it can harm them. 70 watts is just a thermal rating, most decent speakers can handle more than they are rated. You shouldnt have any problems as long as the gains are set properly. Just make sure you dont clip the amp, and you should be just fine.

a real 111w at 20hz for an extensive amount of time can possibly kill the speaker. 111w of 3khz for a period of time will kill your ears before it kills the speaker.

To be honest, you're not getting 111w. The power that an amp is rated at is usually at full power at a specific voltage and frequency. The higher the frequency, the less power the speaker will actually see. If you can cross the speaker higher, then they will be more comfortable handling the power. The higher the frequency you go, usually less power is going through the speaker. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
