To much power to sub

not much 170 shipped. Looking for a hifonics 1500d on here for that i c it all the time just cant find it no i have the money. Or lookin on ebay for garbage amps that have around 1000-1500rms. I dont care if they are garbage amps and unreliable cuz on ebay they come with warrantys

Wow, just about every reply besides sblazer and Justin was even dumber then the one before.

If i have a 750rms sub (06 12" L7) and im giving it 2400rms from my amp will it blow my sub.
if you really have the ask this, then you will probably blow the sub.

i would overpower any day over underpowering, but not by that much.
Why the hell would you overpower instead of underpower it?

If you're looking for a garbage amp then it probably won't do 1000-1500 watts too. You get what you pay for.

That is true, but it is the clipped signal that blew it not the fact you are underpowering it. If you threw a 1500 clipped signal at it it would blow just as well. And if you threw 750rms clean to it it wouldn't.

The clipped signal made it exceed it thermal limits. The only way to blow a sub is exceeding thermal or mechanical limits. Even sending 1500 clean watts to a 1000 watt sub can blow it if that power makes it go past the mechanical limits of the subwoofer.

Because more is always better. Simply turn up the gain on the more powerful amplifier and you can be perfectly fine within your listening parameters.

The problem is, generally when a driver is underpowered, the user tends to push and push, and ends up clipping the signal to a point where the underpowered driver fails. If it is overpowered, the user does nto push as hard to get the desired affect.
