To much Midrange

Hello again:)

I was wondering. Since I have installed my jensen head unit, Clarion amp, Infinity Reference 4" and Blaupunkt 6x9s, it all sounds good except for the midrange. It is way to loud. It pierces your ears sometimes. Is there anyway I can tone down the midrange through the amps freq. settings to the front speakers? The Infinity references seems to have waaaaaayyyy to much midrange. Or, do I have to get an equalizer to relly dial it in? If so, how does a equalizer hook up to a head/amp system? Thanks in advance for replies:)

P.S.....its a Clarion APA450 amp

Ive played with the treble adjustment on my head unit and the freqeuncy settings on my amp for the front speakers and there still harsh. The highs allmost dissapear wich I dont want that. Mainly the vocal or a mid range guitar are very loud. How would you go about hooking up a eq to an amped system? Recommend any good inexpensive ones? I think this is going to be the only way for me to really dial the system in to exactly how I want it to sound.

this head unit is brand new. It has 5 pre set eq settings. I think it just needs more to control the mids. Most head units I have seen that have built in eq's are barely more then a bass and treble controler. I think a true eq is the way to go. Just dont know a good inexpensive one or how to install it.
