Thx DS great fair review.

Gonna chime in here. Running the DSC4125 and DSC1500.1D right now. Single subwoofer set-up (TC 3hp), fully active 2-way front. No problems what-so-ever, lots of power, great output, and very clean sound. There's not much else I would go out of my way to buy at this time unless it has a better price/performance ratio and even more power.
Head to head with an SAZ-1500D in a subjective test (direct swap), I could tell no audible differences, so I decided to sell the SAZ and pocket the extra cash. No, I did not meter it, no point for me. Yes, I know the SAZ isn't a pure SQ amp either, but it's an amp most people are familiar with and served as a great comparison. It was also the revision right before they retooled the amps to the new, SAZ v.2's, so it was pretty much new at the time. I guess my main point is that these two particular amps are/were fantastic Maxxsonics products. Does this speak for the entire company? No clue, I've only played with a few of the other Discus series amps (which also delivered). However, I definitely wouldn't scoff at their MB Quart products.

should I keep going?
No need, I'm still not drinking your brand of cool aid... or maxxonics either...

All your post stated was that the amps will cut out with low voltage, which is common... and a highly regulated amp will draw more current (to a point) when voltage drops, which I already stated...

There was some additional banter about voltage drop killing amps, but considering the source I see it as being nothing more then a blanket statment to cover poor build quality and amplifier failures...

Any bench test of an unregulated amp will clearly show the amp draws less current and puts out less power as volage drops.. and that is the bottom line..

Causes of overheating:

1 - Inadequate cooling - relocate or remount to provide better natural airflow over the fins.

2 - Driving high power levels into low impedances - back off on the volume control, and/or make sure you are not loading the amplifier with less than the

recommended loudspeaker impedance.

3 - Excessive voltage drop can also cause overheating

hmmm

what type of power supplies do D class amplifiers employ...

i will keep using a maxxonic amp untill they really start to disapoint me. bottom line!
I'll be running AQ amps next, so we'll see how I feel about them in comparison to my MBQ's I've owned. I only swapped up because audio is addictive and I wanted to experiment with more. I don't enjoy people saying brand x is great and brand y isn't when they haven't used either, so I'll be jumping around throughout a few brands and see for myself. As of right now, Maxxsonics is my fallback brand until they disappoint me as well.

So does The rd3250v1 and v2, looks dont mean anything.
The v1 was a solid amp, the v2 has the same board but was built in a Chinese buildhouse as opposed to the Korean buildhouse that the v1 was built in. Calling both amps poor quality just because one of the two was built with different components and had an issue isn't fair at all.

The AP AQX3500.1 is also the same board as the two RD amps and it is a very stout amp...

Your ignorance ftl.

My BXi1210 was my first experience with a Maxxsonics amp. First amp I bought. Seemed solid at first, then got onto the forums and started hearing that they were overrated. Sold it for $125 shipped.

Bought and direct swapped in a AQ1200D for $170 shipped. AQ was much louder, but also much more demanding current wise. Eventually found a great deal on two MB Quart DSC1500.1Ds. Sold the AQ for $190 shipped.

Bought two of the DSC amps for $310 shipped, or $155 per amp. Direct swap from the AQ, was louder and drew just as much current as the AQ.

The internals in the MBQ are a fuckton beefier (larger coils, more caps) for an amp that is only supposed to do 300W RMS more. Kind of makes you wonder why AQ is such a forum boner if "shitty Maxxsonics" equipment shits on it for a fraction of the price.....

Beefier doesnt mean better. Do you have uF cap specs for both amps? Im not for either brand, Im just wondering. Seems like everyone is going based solely on "quantity" rather than the actually characteristics that actually matter.
