just a question, to all the people that have had HO alternator and have them what voltage do you stay in idle and reving? for some strange reason my HO alternator 150 amp stays at 12.6 idle WITHOUT any music on etc??? that means that my battery is NOT getting charged when idle and system on, honestly i expected this thing to keep me like at 14.4 and NEVER under 13.8(around that) but i see thats not the case? you guys had this? oh big 3 has been done.

**** man , i dont know what to do, i had a new interstate battery, and that one started dying on me twice(guess HO alternator isnt charging it) so i bought a yellow top and i KNOW 12.6 is not right, im either doing low rpm's or idle half the time, i can imagine i probably dip to like the low 11's when im at a red light bumpin, oh and by the way i had a 800.2 kicker and jbl px300.4 .

okay, is your alt even charging when you rev up, mine never charged any, but it had the wrong regulator for my vehicle on it, another thing i paid extra for an alt that would kick on at idle or lower rpms, the other alt didnt kick on until 800rpms or so, some alts are even higher than that, depends on what kind of alt. rebuilt ones usually kick in a good bit later than stock ones, but make sure what idle it kicks on at and make sure its even charging, because 12.6 or so means the alt isnt even charging, for an alt to be charging the batt, it need to be at like 14 volts or so to over come resistance, so if its at 12, thats not good, does it jump up to 14 volts when your driving? if not better take it off and go to autozone for them to test it

dam the 4.3L's low idle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Your regulator is not operating properly.

could be these 2 connections

Feild signal (usually connects to the alternators output post)

or

Ignition power to turn itself on (usually connected to the coils positive lead)

ha i know right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif , stupid thing on mine idles at 500-600 sometimes and others it is above 600, depends dont know why though, but i had to f-n pay for the large case although it will just bolt right on unlike some other cars

mine floats between 14.5 down to 14.1 at idle with light,ac,and stereo on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif , so where did you say you got this HO from..
