i am having problems figuring out how much airspace this box is....its sealed so it should be pretty easy to figure for all you guys who are adept....3/4" mdf wqill be used. heres the dimensions...

i think i learned how to calculate this in the 7th grade X_X

really, is that when you dropped out of English class? ( i should be I )

Could you please provide your formula for calculating this? some of us not so el33t people would like to see it.

thanks

you calculate it in squares. for areas with triangles, u calculate the width and height(a square), then divide it by 2(thus making half a square i.e. a triangle). then of course u factor in the depth afterwards and all it all up.

There is nothing wrong with my english, i can type however i want on the internet.

that part I understand but what about thickness of wood, or that odd 4" at the top, 5" at the bottom stuff... but I trust you, because I have no clue

for the wierd little 5 inches this is how u would do it. Isololate the whole triangle from that side, starting with the 5 inch base.

so our width is 5 inches.

to get our height we add the 2 heights off the right wall in the 2nd pic, the 21" and 3 "

so our height is 24"

we refer to the first picture for our depth of 21.5

now the equation is height x width x depth = volume

now to get our triangle we have to add an extra step, division.

(height x width x depth)/2 = volume

now to add our wood in we have to subtract .75 from each facet.

((height - .75) x (width - .75) x (depth - .75))/2 = volume

now someone correct me if im wrong but im 90% sure that is the right way.

Also this will calculate into square inches, it needs to be coverted to feet.

Altho math is the most accurate and precise, if you arent sure of your math, just use it as a general approximation.

Or just draw it in AutoCAD and let the program do the calculation for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the more I look at this picture, the dimensions are messed up... near the top you have 4" which is longer then the 5" dimension at the bottom, also your back piece is 21" + 3" , but this would make the front piece larger then 24" since it's angled

or maybe I'm high on resin fumes...
