how are we calculating? before sub displacements etc? will you give us a sub displacement? I will do it just for a shot.. its not that hard to make an accurate enclosure

Hi guys,Please take no offense in post but let me state my opinion.

designs of pure enclosure and subwoofer TS parameters are very useless. 50% of the enclosure design revolves around the cabin/evirornment. 30% Revolves around application. 10% includes the personal preference of the listener and the last 10% is dependent upon theory. I've designed enclosures that was tuned to 70 hertz and the end result was an RTA-ed perfect linear flat response down to 25 hz due to the applications and environment. There are no current market available software that can calculate this. I use my own software that I've created to account for the factors involved. Pete from PWK Designs has an astonishing software that accounts for response in the time domain with particle collision theories that goes way beyond any software available.

In all honesty, I would assume that everybody can do basic designs using WINISD, BassBox Pro, Leap, etc. I would call it calculating. But I wouldn't call that designs. Designs require extensive knowledge of the entire system with the emphasis of it's application.

I'm expecting that every so called designer should get 100%, +/- 1% error round off, accuracy with this challenge. However, my proposal to a true challenge would be designing a subwoofer enclosure with one specific subwoofer that will would be measured in one vehicle. Then the design would be subject to the RTA for accuracy. This is a true design challenge.

Trust me on this one: that's the point. I've seen designs for the same enclosure vary as much as 15hz. This is in an effort to see who actually understands what they're doing and who is just plugging in numbers. I am not expecting at all much consistency because different people use different programs and techniques and as such, the results won't be 100% +/- 1%. As I said, everything you need will be posted. I have 8 people now, but there's going to be a few more coming in the morning. Either way, as I said many times, you will be provided with a relatively well known speaker and will then design the enclosure around it.

Both. 75% of it is a 2 cubic foot slot ported design at 30hz. That's a pretty average design for a RL-P so it should make it easy. The real designing comes in the 25% of HOW you execute the design such as bracing, port area, etc. So yes, you're designing around my specs which are just the 2 cubes at 30hz bit, but you're designing that 2 cube 30hz box for THAT speaker. If it didn't matter, then that box would be the same for a DD9515 or a DC lvl5 or even a MB Quart 12. That isn't the case since they all have different behaviors, so take that into account. The net volume and tuning is the same though.

However, I'm just making this as fair as possible since the way this will be won is through the uniqueness of the design. 2 cubes is pretty average for that sub and it responds well in that space.
