Sound Gallery, the only car audio dealer/shop within 50 miles of my house advised me of such:
Brought in my fried RF1001BD. First he said one of the channels was fried, to which I responded "It only has 1 channel". He then said somthing about it frying because of a speaker wire problem, or maybe because my alt wasnt putting out enough juice causing my power supply to fry. He the recommended a extra battery. Quoted me $148 for repair, and even then said he would'nt risk it as the power supply might be gone. I inquired about a PG Tantrum 1200.1, and he recommended against it, as he stated they are easy to "smoke". He stated my 04' RF851X dicipates heat more efficientley, and has the best heat protection of any amp in it's class. He then tried to sell me some 4ga Power wire at $3 a foot and some BA SL60's for $300. Guess he does have a buisness to run after all. Ebay has spoiled me. Anyone know of any good audio shops down around the DC/Balt area? Thats prob the closest place that would have any, as I live on the Western MD panhandel (2 hr drive to the metro area). Would like to go somewhere where I can hear some quality brands in person and see some nice equipment. He has speakers set up in a listening area, but apparentley he wasnt able to turn them on for some reason. He is an authorized dealer for BA,MB Quart,Alpine,JLaudio/RF/Memphis by the way which is cool. I just cant afford anything with his markups.
