tips for not blowing new subs

Some will tell you to break them in i personally didnt with my btl but it is still stiff so but the way i have heard you break them in is play like at 5htz tone at low volume ovenight that should do it
come on... over night? 5 hz. duuuuuuuude the excursion!!!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

if something starts to smell like its burning, turn your stereo off. I ran 3000+ watts to a dc level 4 15" rated at 1000 watts rms for a month without blowing the sub. I set the gains by ear, and never had any trouble with them.

how will i know? will it sound bad? they sound fine right now, not distorted or anything... im prob. just bieng overcautious
dude if you cant crank it yank it....obviously you want to smash your subs, so smash them and turn it down once you begin to smell the voice coil heat up, and youll be able to tell cuz it will smell like burned electrical.

thanks for the responses everybody. the volt meter sounds like a good idea... where can i pick one up at?

Craftsman DMMs ****. Fluke FTW...if you can cough up the money for it. My Mastech is very nice.
lol. Reason for my comment is that I dont think he knows what a DMM is. I could be wrong though.

Whats wrong with craftsman DMM. Hes just checking voltage.

i have 2 10 inch RD sonance v1's and one 1000.1 RD amp. subs are rated at about 600 rms each, but are highly under rated. running them at 1 ohm and 35 hz

Read sticky on setting gains. Watch a few videos on youtube with subs clipping so you'll know what to listin for. Bolt your box down. Be carefull when putting stuff in your trunk. Your subs should last a long time, you'll probably sell them. If you do f*ck them up, team psi can fix them for you.

Well looking at your specs on the amp. Its 1050 rms at 1 ohm. If you are saying your subs are 600 rms. Two comes to 1200 rms. Turn that gain half way. And you should be find. I dought you are getting a full 1050 sure depends on what eletrical system you have. I wouldnt be to worried about it.

I have never gained matched anything On any setup I have ever done. And never blown a sub.

Side note to. On your HU set your bass boost to zero. And let the amp and box do their jobs.
