Tiny mid with 1" tweeter and wicked mid bass?

I just got a nice 4 channel Kenwood amp (60 watts rms X4) and an Audio Control 4XS crossover so I could could drive everything with its own amp or channel. I am planning on mounting my Adire Extremis mid woofers in the doors, each has its own Carver 240w 8ohm amp. Should I consider running a very small midrange for ease of proper staging/ mounting. Originally planned on running best 4.5 mid and 1" titanium available, are there quality tiny mids that will match up with killer mid woofers and large tweeters. Is 60 watts x4 for hi mids and tweeters going to keep up with 240w rms x2 mid bass and 3000w rms into 2 12" Brahmas?

Have not decided where I'm going to mount them yet, just wondering if I'll have more or better options if small self contained mids exist, the Extremis would probably be fine with just a tweeter, but that seems too simple. Would dash mounting stage better than kicks?

Well I know the Extremis will have ALOT of output, and typically smaller(~3") midranges will most likely not have the output to keep up. I'm waiting for the 3" Legatia midrange from Hybrid Audio. http://www.buwaldahybrids.com/currentprojects.htm

Another smaller driver to look into is the Vifa "Trius"

If you need something even smaller look into Aura's smaller midranges the NS3 and the Whisper.

Although they probably won't keep up with the extremis as well as the Trius or Legatia.

Another option is the DLS Iridium IR3 Dome midrange, the Dayton RS 2" Dome midrange, and especially the Usher 3" Dome midrange.

That may just be the best way, keep[ it simple.

possibly, that's why alot of people are interested in these 3" Midranges, because they can put them into A Pillar pods more easier.

Although you can have perfect staging and imaging with kicks.

Lot's of variables.

Awesome, I'll throw a study on your suggestions right now, don't need sleep anyway. I've also wanted to play around with a couple Planar Transducers, anyone tried them? I've been under my hood for so many years I've gotten behind on whats today, maybe their common.

honestly 240w is a hell of alot of power for the extremis. you got alot of headroom there. but you dont need "a 4" with wicked midbass" because thats what the extremis is going to do. you need a "midrange with wicked midrange" lol. honestly, you just need a really nice set of 2 way comps, or a set of DIY comps.

imo - horns would mate awesome with the extremis [HLCD - image dynamics CD1\CD2, USD audio, illusion audio, ect] there are some for sale now and then on here, they can usually play down to 1000~2000hz range and sound beautiful doing it. kinda negates the need for the seperate tweet\midrange - but usallay needs a really high-slope crossover network (24db\oct) and will sound better than just about any tweeter on the planet if setup correctly. there are some mounting issues because horns are so large. but that can be overcome with a bit of smart thinking.

Actually I was referring to the Extremis when I reverenced the "wicked mid bass." (sorry, I'm from Kansas, fortunate to be able to type). The amps are a couple "old school" Carvers that spec better at 8 ohms than 4, I like them. Thanks for your input, wish I could hear all the choices/combos, but I like your logic

have you powered you extremis mids yet? 240 watts will lead to a less than ideal sound. 100 watts even is more than you'll ever need.

I have played them in a couple diffrent size sealed boxs I made, also replaced 8" Infinity woofers with adapter and extremis in ported Infinity home speaker boxs ( I have one set of every Infinity home speaker in the SM series, all use 4 ohm drivers) and even replaced both 8" woofers in single Infinity Alpha ported enclosure. I've powered them with three diffrent size amps in diffrent configurations with both active and passive crossovers. They like the old Carver amps best sealed. The sooner the Brahmas I ordered 2 months ago come in, the sooner I'll quit playing with them and the longer they will live.

3000 watts to a pair of brahmas? I think you need to read-up on the brahmas about how much power they can handle also its more than likely you won`t need all that power to get loud and sound nice doing it i have a pair of 12`s runnig off of 600 watts each and let me tell you they sound very loud and this is in a sealed dual box 1.1 cu.ft dual chambers..if i were you i would go to Adire website and se the recommendations for those subs.

Very logical advice. I have spent the last year or so purchasing items when I get a good deal. I've had several amps before I had a clue what speakers I would end up with. I am currently replacing a 500hp 454 engine with a 630hp 509, car isn't perfect for it yet, but its hard to spend more for less power. Maybe I need help, honestly, what would you do? I can wire the Brahmas for higher impedance or keep the gains low. I've always believed too much power was safer than too little pushing too hard. I hear you though!
