Tinting tail lights?

going to give this a go sometime soon, but am of course scared that I'll fudge it up!

has anyone here done it? can you offer any hints? and how would you go about removing the paint should you need to?

I have a can of "VHT NiteShade" sitting here next to me, and plan on doing a clear coat over the top aswell.

ive done over 5-6 st's of tail light's and a few set's of side markers/ headlight's allso...

there is this stuff called night shade.. comes in a can. the trick is spray on thin coats.. i mean very thing coat's and wait for it to get tacky/dry before applying more coats... and just keep applying till you get the desired darkness...

as far as removeing... never had to.. just take ur time..... and you will get great results.

im actually trying to find this night shade stuff.. when i live in ohio i new a place that sold it... havent tryied looking around here... so if you find some somewhere on-line let me know. thanks.

nail polish remover will work...i had to use it because i sprayed a lil to heavy lol....
yeah, Im thinking I might have done that too... lol

I'm really not too worried about the finish... as long as its smooth, and shiny... I gotta go get some clear top coat... maybe tomorrow, too hot now...

ok, I've sprayed the tinting, but plan on doing a clear coat over the top to make them very shiny...

however, due to the temperature here today (about 104 degrees...) the paint has dried a bit mottley, its even, but some parts are shiny, some arent.

should I lightly sand, and/or buff this before putting the clear coat on?

I sprayed the lights inside, but put them outside at one stage to dry, so when I applied the next coat, the plastic was warm, which is why it ended up like this.

any suggestions?

The vht paint is good, another way to do it is to mix a clear paint and black together in a spray gun and shoot it like that. The clear will allow the black to become transluscent.

I've actually found that the VHT paint I have seems to have a brownish/redish tinge to it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

how many coats have you done? were they thick coats or super light coats? from what distance did you spray from? got any pics to show what you ar talking about?
they were fairly light coats, from a fair distance, which is why it ended up the way it did, because the paint was drying as it was applied
