Time to Kill a Sub

I am taking guesses on how much power a Audiobahn 12" Immortal sub will take before it goes pop.

(just so you don't all think i'm wastefull i've been asking around on what new subs to buy here is the reason not only is my current set-up way to heavy i feel i could do better. Last week for no apparent reason one of the wires that goes from the connector on the basket to the voice coil melted... as in it is no longer there. That sub no longer works so i have one left. i contacted audiobhan and they offered to either replace the subs of reimburst my money. i chose the money. so before i send it back i really want to know how much it will take. i will do the test on tuesday night with my friend, we've ammased a total of 6500 watts worth of rms power via 2 audiobahn hct 2300, 2 18001dt and 1 bp1200.1 amp)

I haven't decided myself how much power it will take to grenade the sub but it will be in a 2.5 cf sealed box.

let the best man win...

Sounds like a clipped signal may have jacked your last sub. You sure your gains were set properly?

Just plug it into an outlet.
Thanks for reminding me of good times........ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif

yeah i was only pushing about 1200 watts to each and they are supposed to be good to about 3000w rms, i think it was a weak solder and with the additional heat it just melted and fell into the poly fill, i haven't taken it out.

i was even thinkin about spending the money on getting an immortal sub... but if those bytches are rated at 3000W and cant handle 1200W they can kiss my ***.

-- Edit --

Blow that bytch then take a big whiffff :: "MMMMmMmmMm Voice Coil "::

they are acutally rated at 2000 watts rms, the thing is it was only that one lead from the terminal to the voice coil. the second sub still works great but they offered to refund my money if i was unhappy with the woofers. so i'm taking the money and investing in some subs from RE

wow i think it's a 100 amp breaker. i know it's what our pool equipment runs off of. if so thats 22k watts that should be more than enough to fry the sub.
