Time to change my sub.. i need something that KICKS!

Okey, im about to sell my subwoofer, so I need a new one. Im going to build the box myself.

Im looking for two 12", and I want them to kick hard. Im not going to spend too much on this project, not more than 400$.

So what do you recommend for this price? My local shop has this to offer, but they have more to offer in the shop.

What about this? (Boss RIP-128)

Or this? (Infinity Reference 1230W)

no on boss anything...

the infinity woofer is ok, but there are better woofers out there that are entry level

jl audio w1v2, alpine e-type, re's re line of woofer, kicker comp, etc etc

How much power do you have to feed them, and at what impedence?

If you've got 600 watts or so I would go with a pair of atlas subs http://www.ascendantaudio.com or possibly some shivas http://www.adireaudio.com

The comp VR's are solid subs, as well, can be had for right around $80 a piece if I remember correctly. You could also look into some alpine Type-R's...quite potent subs expecially for the money.

You've got a lot of options, and the subs you showed are the worst ones IMHO, I would never touch any of those.

Check out http://www.etronics.com for great deals on the alpines, and kickers...then do a price match at http://www.sounddomain.com and you'll get a few more bucks off if you're really into saving money.

kicker comp VRs.. do two ported if you have the room on liek 300 rms a piece and youll be surprised i promise. theyre louder than most of what was mentioned here. i picked a VR for my first setup and was pleased.

however, if you want great sound quality for music other than rap or rock there are probably better choices in your range.

**LOUD** sound quality , basss + spl and very nice SQ that can handle what it says and then some. Consider Orion Xtr's I had a pair of 15"s in a SQ box and for a non SPL applicatoin **IT bounced MY IBIS 9mm full clip acrossed my dash** Those to this day have taught me the meaning of **LOUD** not being 4000WATTS , but only 500Wrms on a very very overated 2000W lanzar viberant 268 lol. those pair took the amp bridged, as if I was under powering them.
