Tight & Musical subwoofer?

Thanks for the reply Princ3cmo! I have heard some of the Daytons in a home theater setting (not sure of model) and they sounded great! Unless someone can point out a better performing sub in that price range, I will probably be going with 1 or 2 of the Dayron RSS265HO-4 10inch drivers in a good box. Speaking of which, if I end up going with the Dayton 265HO driver(s), is there a particular enclosure type that you guys would recommend? I will admit that I don't know much about enclosures for car audio. I know that in home audio, they can range from simple sealed or ported boxes, boxes with a butt load of bracing, or even boxes with a folded horn inside. Any advise on enclosure design? I don't mind spending some cash to get a really good enclosure custom built.

each subs likes about 0.7cubes after displacement with a tuning of 29-30hz for a flat response (thats how I run mine and I have been nothing but impressed). I'm sure pro rabbit or ram designs or another box builder here can help you tailor that to your car though.

my box is simply 2 cubes gross, with a driver side firing 4" aero tuned to 29\30hz, each sub has roughly 0.7 to 0.9 cubes after displacements.

I'd get a decent 10 if I were you. IMO they're faster and punchier for rock and country. There's so many SQ subs out there in your price range. You could get an Infinity Perfect with the variable Q for around 190 new off Amazon. You could look at Hertz as well for SQ but they're a bit pricey. Also a real good SQ woofer would be maybe a SD or SA 10 from Sundown. The SD is the lower class and it's rated at 300 rms. Believe me even at 300 watts these woofers are good, tight and loud. And your amp selections are endless. You could get 1000 watt Kenwood for 110 bucks new. 1000 watts is more like 500 rms but good enough for what you want. Well, I was bored. LOL! And I hope this helps. One more sub to look at is a Dayton. Really good low wattage SQ subs IMO.

why do noobs always bring up this myth that 10's are faster and more punchy...

screw all these underground name brands go to sonic electronix get a rockford p3 10 with a rockford 300.1 amp in a sealed bx you will be set

lol im not trolling im giving my option an he would be spending 275 on sub and amp like he said and would have a good sounding sub
You understand the performance per dollar, and value you get from something like Rockford is far lower then these so called underground brands.

my suggestion 1 dcon 12 d4 and 1 incriminator audio 5.1 wire it to 2 ohm and have fun. might be a tad over you budget but this makes for a **** good start on a sq system. if you ever decide you want more bass pick up another dcon wire to 1 ohm and get a new box. all avalible at ssaudio.com

for quality bass on a budget, the Dayton reference series is where you need to be! Some of the cleanest subs I've ever heard even compared to subs 3 or 4x their price. dont cost much at all either.
heres the dual voice coil 12" Dayton Audio RSS315HO-44 12" Reference HO DVC Subwoofer 295-467

heres the single voice coil 12" Dayton Audio RSS315HO-4 12" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm 295-466

and here's the 10s Dayton Audio RSS265HO-4 10" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm 295-462

as far as sealed vs ported, you can get good SQ from either, its all in the box design. and as far as 10s vs 12s, only difference will be more cone area with a 12 vs a 10, but that will not affect the SQ.
+1. I would also look at the HF version of the same drivers. They like bigger boxes than the HO version. I'd go with one 12 sealed.

Also look at the aura sound amps while you are on PE. Very nice old school amps.
