Stock subwoofer suggestion

I have a Toyota Avalon which comes stock with a 8" free air subwoofer in the rear deck. I also have a IDQ12 D2 sub in a .85cf sub box (not being used currently). So my question is, do I buy a new 8" free floating sub and replace the stock one OR do I take the stock sub out, leaving a 8" hole in the rear deck and place the IDQ sub with box in the trunk and use the 8" hole sort of as a port hole? Will that decrease the sound quality at all or not? I think I could go either way on this but would like some feedback. Thanks!

i would take it out and save it for later, like if you sell the car. without an under-hung bucket, it can damage it. i've heard speakers bottom out before, and at the least, they wear out. one of the performance properties of a free-air sub os having stiff suspension, and worn out is not stiff, so it could be shot if you ever hook it back up.....

^^ I agree with all the points above. Take your stock sub out and use the hole as a blow through port. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
