thumping sound

ok i have 2 dual 4 ohm voice coil 10 inch ma audio a 1000 watt pheonix digital amp and piooner head unit and jenson wiring kit for a 250 watt amp.

now the problem i drive a 93 astro van and i get this nasting thumping sound from subs like some one knocking on my rear window.my first thought was the rca cables but i have been therw 3 pair of them so next is the ground i have tried this same setup with my 250 jenson ampits the old schooll whith the hand print on it with the green light..if the ground is not the problem i think its my head unit.i have the system ground under my 2 row seat.what is my problem

So... you're sitting there, playing the radio right? And you're turning it up more and more and then all of a sudden you hear knocking sounds? Is that what happened? If so, then your subs are probably bottoming out and I would recommend lowering your gains.

it does it even if i have the cd player on pause so they cant be bottooming out
