So the stock 6 disc changer in my 04 Maxima decided this week that it needs my CDs more than I do, and now won't load or eject discs. After I checked for fitment kits I decided it may be time to replace it with an aftermarket deck.
If I'm correct, I should be able to install an aftermarket HU using a simple wiring harness if I keep my stock Bose speakers. I'd much rather have a good set of components, but right now I'm just interested in being able to listen to something besides the radio.
My last deck was an Alpine and I loved it, but I had an eXcelon years ago (one of the first MP3-capable decks). I don't really need nav or DVD, but I would like a USB input so I can play files from my thumb drives. The X891 looks like it would fit the bill, but what is the opinion on the newer gen Kenwoods as far as SQ and reliability? If you can suggest another unit that would be better, I'm open to opinions as I haven't ordered anything yet. Thanks!
