Thoughts and Opinions on this guy V. Guy Yanking Me around

A verbal contract is such the same. Not to mention I have PMs and the like. They're of equal value in a legal standpoint.

that is where I was going with that but in this case it just is not worth you trouble

Yeah. That was my original thought when 'small claims courts' came up. But, I'm keeping nearly every option open. The best way, in my eyes, is for him to man up, pay for the box, and either pick it up, or not.

This is classic, used to happen to me alot. There's only one solution here. Chalk it up as a loss, sell the box on CL to someone else, and never build a box from now on with out a down payment. Simple as that.

you'll spend more in court than you'll get if you win the case.it's a $70 lesson learned IMO. you never saw him face-to-face or got a deposit.
Not true. Small claims court fees are relatively inexpensive. A judge decides the outcome, so there is no attorney fees. If they find in ops favor, they will make the defendant eat the fees for the case and he will have to pay them back plus whatever op has down that is owed to him.

To op never do this again without having at least half the money. That way you will not be completely fu cked.

small claims court is an option but $70 to make you take a day off head over there etc etc is not worth it in my opinion.. maybe you are strapped for cash.. who knows.. But sell the box and get some or all your money back..

ya the local guy who builds mine makes me pay for materials.. and he will build it.. then i pay him labor after i see it..
Yeah. I'm gunna start making people either pay half, or materials first. This isn't happening ever again. Haha.

I just thought it'd be a smooth transaction since it's local. But I was wrong.

i'm taking account for time/lost job time for having to go to court also. i wouldn't pursue small claims unless it was $100+. otherwise just eat it and learn.

There's your flaw in logic, JCO.

I'm unemployed. He'd be the one that's losing job time.

Besides, I love going to Downtown. I always have a good time.

I've been trying to find a job. Hell, I'm even willing to offer whoever helps me find a job 1/2 of my first pay check.
