Thoughs on Future Box Idea for 4 HDC3 18s

don't use the HDC3s grab 4 FI audio BL 18s.. they are perfect with about 1500-2k on them and they are loud as ****.

build a box for 1 start at 7 cubes with half the SD for port area and increse your port area untill you start to loose output. then decrease box size until you loose output keeping the same tuning.. then increase tuning in the smaller box if it helps increase port area if not stick to what you got. then just build its 4x bigger.. its the best way to do it..

or you could just do 23 cubes with 340in^2 of port area with tuned to 36 for a decent mix..

I already have the hdc3s. I also do not like FI subs period. Just personal preference.

I'm gonna have the box on the bigger side, since I can always change tuning and add in wooden cubes to take up airspace. Dont really have a term lab atm, gotta drive an hour to get metered and chad geary (guy who did gary killian's new setup) is always busy. Pretty much gotta do it in one swoop and tweak it as is.

seriously? AQ over FI.. lol ok.

good luck b money. start off big so you can change tune and port area.. smaller box loads the driver more big port means it peaks harder at tuning and the larger the port the narrower the bandwidth its going to peak. remember that when you build money..

Already know that stuff ever since I started using Winisd way back man lol. Thanks for trying though. Yeah AQ over FI. One too many fire stories in the past along with a lot of my buddies getting improperly built subs along with a lot of nutthuggers with poor installs that don't even get loud or sound good got me not liking them. We basically reached the same conclusion if you've read the first few posts. Testing is everything for this build since its very easily adjustable in every sense.

for what its worth i think the biggest gains come from getting your phasing correct. its by far the most important thing..

I know sub loading, cabin gain and tuning enclosures. The only thing i know about phasing is speakers playing music in phase and cancellation with the front stage and wiring in and out of phase. So in regards to your comment, I have no clue what other phase you are talking about. Care to tell me more about phasing and quarter waves etc.. Thats one mystery that eludes me.

You got some build logs? And videos/pictures of your work? I checked the threads you started since 2006 and no builds at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
