I chime in when they are new.. ususally i click them and theirs 3 pages and they got their mind made up already.. to be honest Most of my posts are correcting what people tell the OP to do and cre completely wrong and i will straitedn them out before the OP ***** up his ****.. I dont know everyhting but what i do know im more then happy to share.. i got several people that added me and blow my *** up on the chat everytime i get on

While it's false that the Thunderdome takes up more space than all of the other sections combined, it's pretty off-putting to see that it holds almost 3 times as many posts as any other forum, and that a whole discussion section of the site barely surpasses it in post count(just added them up.. Something like 2,164,xxx to 2,228,xxx).

In this topic, the first reply was helpful enough. Second post was enough to validate the point. By the third post, trolls were mentioned. In the third post, there was nothing adding to the discussion. Fourth post was condescending and unhelpful. Fifth post was good; he didn't quote any of the trolls or add to the fire. The next post was somewhat condescending, but playful. The seventh post was helpful. The eighth and final post(so far) was completely uncalled for.

I know you haven't made claims of not having trolls anywhere, and I know you're trying to fix the problems on the site, but this kind of immature banter goes on in at least half of the topics created in the discussion forums, and there is (almost) always a person in any given topic being an immature moron. How do we report these posts? They're not explicitly breaking any rules or terms of service. They're not directly harassing the member, and when the mod checks the reported post, there's a pretty good chance that he will take no action, or do something silly like ban the offender for a week(I have no idea what the actual moderation policy is, so I'm guessing here).

This kind of gray area is the most troubling of the site. It's easy to hit the report button on the blatant ridicule, but it's far less so to do it when every reply is similarly sarcastic in nature. While these people may not be breaking the rules, they're definitely bending them, and that shouldn't be tolerated.

watch out hes going to ask for a mathematical formula for you to back up your claim of that half the posts..he will then say your guesstimation somehow makes you less smart than him cause his screennames in orange. but your exactly right.. he seems to think that everything is hunky doory cause he talked about making things better..but things realisticly arent and are getting worst but hey what do i know i left for 2 years and come back 4 months ago.. i obviously have no clue what i see on a daily basis and what i saw when i was on this site years ago.. he sees things differently than alot of the rest of the forum members apparently. oh well though. just have to get your tech help else where and watch and laugh at the trolls bash the new members or anybody who has any type of question.

But next time, it will be a lot easier for both of us if you simply hit the 'report post' button at the bottom of the offending reply. But in all seriousness, I apologize that we mods cant catch every problem, and must rely on you members to help and support us. But that is the reality, and we appreciate your patience in getting the whole community to realize the new rules are being enforced.

Trolling in the thunderdome is not against the rules. Im not sure why I have to keep repeating this thought.

Why allow trolling in any setting? New members join, look around at the different forums, and see the black hole that is the Thunderdome. It doesn't have to be a black hole. It's possible to have completely random discussion while staying polite and having fun. People get pissed off in the dome because it's full of mostly only trolls. Isn't it supposed to be a privilege to be able to talk with the other members about off topic things? Many sites don't have that, and I guess it's for a good reason.

While trolling might not be against the forum's rules, often times it very much breaks the terms of service. I'm quoting the TOS, which I was able to access because of your signature, so please understand that I'm not trying to be offensive while doing this.

I wasn't trying to come off as upset about the topic; I was just trying to give you an example. I will surely report posts that I think should be reported, and I understand that the mods can't be everywhere at once. Don't worry; I'm not trying to blame you for the goings on of the forum.

I get what you are saying, and I dont take you voicing your opinion as offensive at all. I appreciate the feedback. The problem is, there is a real balancing act between moderating away every injustice that takes place here, versus allowing members what they consider a reasonable amount of freedom. One of the biggest complaints I hear about many other car audio forums is the 'nazi moderators'. We have even been accused of over moderating by simply banning the N word and enforcing the no harassment policy in the tech sections. So we have to balance reality versus idealogy. Ideally, I agree with you entirely. In the sad reality, we mods have to make judgment calls every single day here. Its my personal hope that as the community comes around to the recent new strictness in some areas, we will be able to tackle a few other problem issues in baby steps, and eventually get to where I see this site going. Its just going to take some cooperation between the members and staff, and a lot of patience.

I blame the economy. Times are different Car Audio isn't on the mind of the typical guy on a budget these days. nobody saying its his fault until he catches an attitude and acts like your making up a situation on here that doesnt exist because i exaggerated a number percentage.. that makes me think hes in denial about whats really going on here. i dont see anybody accusing of over moderation..except the trolls who want to use the n word and see **** on here... i dont think anybody who comes for car audio and to help people really cares about those things that much anyways. instead of attacking me for pointin a situation out..he should be trying to resolve the problem... i would have thought if ANYBODY would agree this place has a ton of trolls and isnt like it should be it would be a mod(wrong there obviously) and someone whos been here longer than me and saw what this site was like when it was helpful and had companies offering help and what not.

It hink you can be strict and get away with it.. the other mods on most sites act like children rather then a clear level headed adult. You act like an adult and dont let people get under your skin and act like you are a legit person to be in the position you are i think you can be strict as you want and its not a problem.. its when they srtart banning people just for calling them out or let their emotions get the best of them they look like idiot kids not deserving of the role

I guess I didnt address the t-dome aspect of your reply very well misterdeadeye. We allow the t-dome to exist as it does, almost lawless, as a sort of peace offering to the people who use to enjoy the entire site operating in the same fashion (the type of people jtomsic says we were better off having around). I also feel it's relaxed rules offers an outlet to the members that makes the stricter rules of the tech and classified sections more palatable. I loo at it like recess for school kids, its their chance to expel their destructive energy in a designated area. Not that Im calling the members here children, just that the parallel fits pretty well. lol

although im fairly new to the site. car audio is my biggest hobby, i enjoy reading on it, sharing what i know, and trying to learn even more. This site really does attract too many trolls that simply bag on anyone who asks simple questions, and then they report by saying any mainstream brand is amazing..when they havent experienced anything decent. i really wish this site would get cleaned up, i cant find any other decent Car audio sites. DIYM, CACO and this is about it..
