This alternator sound good?

My stock alternator is putting out 90 amps. Since my lights dim and my rpms drop at idle should i upgrade my alternator? Im running 600 rms at 1 ohm. The alternator I can get is $160 and it puts out 125 amps. Thanks.

Have you upgraded the Big 3. If not that would be the first thing that I would do.

It sounds like you have other problems going on, I am running like 2000 watts and have no dimming on stock alt.

So upgrade the Big 3, have local autozone check you alt and bat to make sure they are in good shape. You should not have a dimming problem with 600 watts.

i ouldnt waste 160 bucks on 30 amp increase, maybe save some more if you want a better increase

I have the same question... kinda. I have a 95 AMP alt and I get massive dimming at loud volumes. I ahve done the big 3, and I have stock battery. Do u think a new batt will help me out NOTICABLY? As in, not as bad dimming?

i doubt it on the battery unless your mre then sure your battery isnt charging corectly

I'm uncertain as to what kind of amperage drain your charging system is going through, age of your current battery etc, however in my case, a new battery [Optima YT] made a VERY noticeable difference.

Like said above, I dont beleive that a new battery is going to help at all unless your current battery is actually bad. Go get it tested before you get another one.

A battery will help however if you like to run your system with your car off.
