Found a guy on cl selling 2 xtr3 8" subs for $50, what can you guys tell me about these subs? When were they made, what kind of power do they take? What kind of box is best suited for these subs? Are they sq or spl based subs? Thanks in advance!

is the pmax the max power handling on these subs? What would you guys say is the rms? I was estimating around 200 or so

yes pmax is max. rms would be about 200. not a bad sub. the first series xtr's were excellent.

are they primarily an sq sub, made to get loud? Or just a decent entry level sub? when were they made?

i would lean more towards a sq sub. get decently loud. would be considered somewhat entry level also. the xtr 3 would be late 90s iirc.
