Third party auto warranty?

Anyone ever get one? Looking at getting one for my Dad, and just getting quotes. Any bad experiences? We went through Warranty Direct last time and after his car was totaled, they refunded us a good amount, so we're talking to them first and i'm shopping around for him other than them. Anyone with good stories or bad?

make sure it is a true warranty and not one of those scams where they make it sound like a warranty but all they do is pay your repair bill for you and you pay them back with interest

I really dont think any of them are a decent deal

When you pay in so much and still have to pay a deductible, its not worth it.

You might pay $2000 and have a warranty cover 2 years and have nothing happen.

You also have insurance to cover major things, like accidents and such

i had one on my car. bought the car with 30,000miles on it. warranty covered everything even the windsheild wiper motors and was good til 98,000 miles. 1300$ for it. they bought me a brand new transmission and something else...anyways i paid 50.00

deductible and thats all. plus paid the 1300 over a year. got all work done by honda and a free rental car. also towing was free. i think it was well worth it. the ****** alone was like 3700 when i was all said and done. oh and replace my main fuse box

I look at it this way.... You pay the car payment for say 4 years @350/month. After its paid off, warranty is up as well. NOW, you have that EXTRA $$ laying around from not making payments.. Put it away every now and then, and EXPECT that te car will need " a payment" every now and then.
