I figure since this group here is mostly SPL supporters rather than Sound Q, I would be able to get a few responses.
I am contemplating on designing an SPL competition vehicle that will also need to be somewhat musical too. It will be used as a way to promote the sport as well as a way to reach troubled teens.
I want to use a mid '60s bug for the car. I know the electrical system will need to be upgraded, the engine probably modified to accept the larger alternator(s) and other things, but I believe it can be done. I would like to do 6-8 subs, no bigger than 12s, mainly for airspace constrictions.
I want excellent amps...I only expect excellence in my equipment, install can have flaws, but equipment must remain perfect. I know that in competition somethings happen like burned out amps, blown subs and whatnot, but that will be taken care of with on extra sub, one extra amp.
I know i have hit on some of the concerns some of you guys would have, but I am hoping for some positive feedback. My installer wants me to do a burp machine, but that takes all the musicality that the system can offer.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Joe
