1990 ranger standard cab short bed.
one for sale locally..was asking 950 bux.. has the 2.3L 4 cyl.
the good-
its cheap, drive good for a 1990 ranger in its condition, ****** doesnt seem to slip in any gears or reverse (5 speed)... tires are good.
things that are broken/not working-
headlights dont work, guy doesnt know why, could be the switch, could be the wiring, could be a fuse. ideas?
the gas gauge doesnt work. again, could be something simple, or not.
theres a little rust on the body, couple dents, etc.
interior is decent, dash has normal wear and tear from the sun for a 1990, etc.
windshield is cracked (free replacement in florida via insurance, no big deal there)
back 3 piece window, the center piece lookslike the seal is broken. that i can prally get at a junk yard or something.
the main thing i didnt like while driving it was this
you have to press the gas pedal in a good ways for it to start accelerating. even under the hood, (sorry i dont know the terms lol) but the little thing u can pull with ur hand to rev the engine (throttle body?) that you even have to pull a good distance before itll rev the engine. is there a way to adjust this? its weird being that its a stick shift, i keep screwing up in first gear becuase i not used to pushing the gas in nearly 3/4 of the way while releasing the clutch. i guess i can get used to it but id like to adjust that if anyway possible.
also, this is just a beater truck. the dents or anything i dont care about. dont care about paint or interior (it has that rubber floor carpet crap, ill just get some cheap carpet and glue it over that, get a dash mat for the top to cover cracks, etc)
anyways, the guy was asking 950 obo, and i told him id call him back later that night about the truck, but i never called, then he called and said he'd sell it for 500.
what do you guys think its worth? no power options (locks/windows) etc.. dash reads 81,000 but it could be 181k.......blue book for a 90 ranger standard cab short bed with 81k is like 650 i believe it was.
also, it blows hot air, so dont know if its a easy fix, or expensive fix, for the a/c.
but again i dont care, its just a beater.
