I'm not really satisfied with my half-*** system right now, plus I have a speaker blown. I was thinking about-

Going active (need detailed info about this, and can my DEH-P590IB do this?)

-Using ID OEM's

-Not sure what tweeter (suggestions?)

-Not sure what amp..thinking Sundown100.4 or 2, 2 CH amps(only doing front stage)

Deadening the shit out of my cab

Can someone give me info about active setups? I understand its throwing out the passive crossover, but is it just using the HU to cross everything and such? I don't quite understand.

As I understand it, an "active" system has a crossover with a power supply. An example would be the Audio Control 6XS for choosing crossover points for an entire system.

Your questions are too generic. This forum will give suggestions but you need to give info like the car it's going in, taste in music, budget, brand preference, etc.

Sorry, didn't mean to be vague.

Car is a Ford Ranger regular cab. I would like the setup to be more SQ, but I want to it be able to keep up with my eventual sub (likely tw5). Budget for components and amp is about $600. No real preference on brands, just whatever works well with the set up.

your 590 will not do active. you either need to upgrade to an 880prs or an 800prs or get something like a rockford 3sixty.2

I like that 880prs. I shouldn't value looks as much, but when it comes to my HU, thats very important.
