hello everyone, here's my situation:
i have 2 polk audio dx10-4 (10") in a sealed enclosure and a somewhat decent lightning audio b.400.4 4ch amplifier (bleh, i'd replace it if i had the money to...i'm trying to make do with it until i can get some money together). since i only have a 2V rca pre-out from my head unit, i only chose to connect one sub to the amp (instead of splitting the rca signal). while bridged, the amp puts out around 200wrms x 2. i was planning to just get a line driver like the pac turbo so i can put both subs to use.
now onto the real questions. i want bass that is a little bit louder than what is currently coming from that one connected 10" sub. i was considering the RE 12 in a ported box (except i don't know if i can find a box that would fit in my trunk, would need to be under 14" in height)...would this produce more bass than my current setup? i was just thinking that i could get a smaller and/or lighter enclosure and still have the same bass (and maybe even save money if i'm able to sell the subs). i was also thinking about the kicker comp VR 12" which seems to be only a little bit more than the RE 12, but i haven't heard either and a few people complain about the lack of SQ that the kicker cvr has. if anyone else has any suggestions for subwoofers around $125 (preferrably less of course, 125 is the budget...because i'm hoping to be able to sell my subs and box for at least $100)
i've also read that the RE12 has excellent SQ, which is a big plus, so if the RE12 was able to at least match my current sub's spl output, i think i'd be satisfied. i think i'd eventually get that line driver anyways so i can hook up my rear speakers to the amp and still have sufficient voltage for the subwoofer to perform well.
sorry if i'm forgetting something here, i'm still a newbie. and i figured this type of question is too unique to have already been asked.
thanks in advance.
