Hey guy's,

Need some suggestions! Presently I'm running four 12" Kicker crv's dvc4ohm in a ported box, amp i using is a hifonics 2010(I believe). I had to custom box made by a friend of mine that owns he's on shop. I'm not sure of the spec's but i think he said it was tuned to 35-37 hrtz. The box consist of four individual enclosure in one and they all have there own ports. The bass sounds loud at times but it doesn't sound clean(hard to explain) but I was considering going with a sealed box because i hear that the sound would be cleaner, Any suggestion/comments would be appreciated thanks.

it will probably sound a bit cleaner/tighter, depending on the internal air space you do. assuming he did about 2 cubes each for those ported (his port tuning is correct for those), you'll likely lose considerable output. kicker isn't know as subs that are meant to sound great. they aren't bad at getting loud.

What he^ said. Kicker can get loud but often gets sloppy in the process

I've heard that a 'correctly designed' ported box sounds just as good as a sealed box.

I'd personally suggest getting better subs, but if thats not an option, you can try having someone (a professional) design a ported box for you.

I think you'd see much better results if you bought a pair of DC lvl 4's or DC lvl 4 xl's.

for better sound/deeper lowers, go for a larger cone. Maybe 2 15's or 18's

Thanks guy's ! These speakers are all I have to work with at the moment so I have to try and make them work to the best of there ability. Yeah the ports are 2", I got ahold of the installer and explain my concern and he said that he's going to work with the ports alittle better(Not sure what that means) but he said that it will sound much cleaner. I have them in a 01 Dodge Dakota quad cab (I took out the back seat). So I'll keep you guy's posted thanks.
