thinking about going sealed 18XXX

hey guys. well i'm in between a rock and a hard place. I want a setup thats both loud AND sounds good. and well in my truck so far i've had neither with my sx10's. so I picked up a 18XXX, more cone area is always a plus. but now i'm having second thoughts on puting it in a like 10 cube ported box tuned to 27. I love a loud setup. but I also REALLY sove low frequency extension into the 20's and a nice freq curve with little group delay and minimal phase shift. I guess the SQ side of me is taking over. but do you think I should just keep the one 18xxx and port it or seal it up. I havn't installed it yet and I only want to build one box for it so its gotta be perfect. and I don't have much left in my alt to add another 18 if one sealed isn't enuff. so really I don't know what to do.

no way to really know if it will be loud enough for you, why not build a proper sealed and proper ported box and see...or go w/ the sealed and if there's not enough output then port it. I doubt that the xxx sealed would get much louder, if any, than the sx's ported.

how do you like my old XXX

not sure yet, havn't heard it. looks good tho. I just want it to sound better than those 2 sx10's. they sounded alright but LOUD in my stealth but in my truck its like im sitting in a cancelation point or something. I hate it c sounds like poop too. I just want to hit like 145 ish. i'm not looking for high numbers. just acceptable output that sounds clean

I would think you could do 140's with an 18XXX sealed without too much trouble if you have some decent power (looks as though you do from your sig).
