Thinking about going active. What to do?

2 Rockford 3sixty.2 = all active //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif .....no passive to be found in my Tahoe and its totally worth it.

3sixty.2 #1 - Subs 85hz - down (sub channel)

Midbass 85hz - 1000 hz (rear channel)

Midrange 150 - 3500 (front channel)

(center channel not used)

3sixty.2 #2 - Front 2500hz - up (tweeters)

(rear, sub, center not used and available whenever im ready to add more stuff)

you all know my truck isnt an SQ contest champ, but a groundpounder.....i DO care about the way it sounds though....and going all active made a big difference

well I read a little about the 3sixty on fosgates website. a little confusing. I get that it's a processor, duh. But what exactly does it do? Do you have to have some sort of processor to run active or just if you want to run the highs, mids, and subs in one big active system?

BTW, the sixty.2 is expensive. jeez

I've read that the 3.sixty is controled with a bluetooth Palm. Is this the only way to use one? Hopefully I don't need something like this.

Are you active all around or just fronts? Don't know much about the 3sixty. time to learn something new.
yes all around thats why i said there isnt any passives in the car at all..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

a processors of any brand is going to be confusing if you dont have a grasp of how to run active in the first place. You kinda need to know what they do (processors) and how the changes affect your system to really get the most out of them. Best way, if your interested in going active, is to do a little reasearch then dive right in. Gonna be some head scratchin but youll figure it out eventually.

Trust me, My audio control DQS that i used to run wasnt any less confusing at first.....but it all starts making sense after a while. You probably need an RTA to set your EQ correctly though.....

the Palm isnt necessary anymore, they have windows applications so you should be able to use a laptop or even a desktop if you happen to have one near your car (and it supports bluetooth of course)

on the "expensive" comment.....well its only expensive if you dont have the bread for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Look up any brands top of the line processor (with similar features), they are all going to be in that price range (im not talking Flea-bay im talking retail at a store)

Anyway going active takes thought a little more work and of course extra money but its worth it if your as into your system as i am (lots of you are or you wouldnt be on CA.com //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

I just wasn't sure if you only had fronts and were refering the the substage with the processor as "all around".

Unfortunately I don't have a computer. I don't own anything blue tooth either. Do I have to have a processor to go active? If so are there any that don't require a computer to use them?

Just start the easy way. 3 way crossover, 1 4 channel and a 2 channel amp. Midbass drivers on the 2 channel, mid range and tweets on the 4 channel. (three way) Scratch the 2 channel for 2 way setup. The 2 way will work if the midbass driver performs 50hz to 1000hz or better yet.

Not really wanting to use a 3 way setup. I have stock locations for 6.5s and I dont' want to fiberglass door pods. I hate fiberglass. I found a thread from way back where someone was asking about his h/u being active capable. They made it sound like as long as the h/u is capable then you don't need a processor. So this is what I am thinking. 3 Autotek MM75.4s. One using all 4 channels for the tweets and the other two bridged on the mids.

you dont have a computer? what are you typing on? also, it only takes a blut-tooth "dongle" to make most decent computers compatable.....

no you dont need a computer to go active, most brands dont require one. You should use a processor of some sort so you can have control over what the mids and tweets are being fed. Since you dont have any of that stuff in your sig, for now, when you do, i would plan on just use the passives and call it done. Actually, maybe it would be best to get your equipment and then ask questions. 9 times out of ten people that put "coming soon" on their wish list of equipment, a year from now they still dont have anything.

It looks like he's stationed on a boat in the navy dude, look at his location. He's probably using a public computer, hence no access to add a "Bluetooth" dongle.

Just get an Alpine 9887 and got 2-way active then.

Or, get an alpine h701 processor and a w200/w205/d310/d300/d105/d100, ... to control it.

This thread makes my head hurt.

Correct. I am using the computer at work. I don't have one at home. Maybe I'll get a lap top eventually. I want to get a TermLab and don't want to use someone elses computer so who knows. About the "coming soon", I know a lot of people don't buy the things they say they will. I already have the two MM4000.1Ds. They are at home right now. The stereo amps are being purchased on the 15th so that is why I'm trying to figure this stuff out now. I intended to go all rainbow and passive but then I decided I was just taking the easy road and could be missing out by not going active. That is why I started this thread.

Is there a good processor, that I can learn something about and does not require any sort of bluetooth, or palm pilot, or computer to use. I'm not real big on techy stuff (why I don't have a computer). I barely know how to upoad photos. I just want something good and simple. Do I even need one at all with the 880?
