Thinking about getting a MB S-Class

Anyone have experience with them? I was interested earlier when I drove past our local MB dealer and saw a nice '02 S55 AMG I'm posting this to see if anyone has anymore links or info...

My friend's parents just got a courtesy car from MB, it was a... CL300, I think? Not sure. But, the sound system in it was amazing. O_O

You want to take a big hit on depreciation and then pay through the nose for parts and repair, go ahead and buy one. You'll get the "image" but you will pay for it.

My lady friend has a 1990 190E 2.6 and when it's repairs for the same problems I was having were being made on my 1984 Cadillac Coupe DeVille at the time, the bill for fixing the Mercedes was double that of the Cadillac. Nothing has changed in the years since. Avoid 'em like the plague.

AMGs will vacuum the money right out of your bank account. Make sure you have at least $5k on hand just for a single repair if you're buying used. Even brake jobs are $2k+ on the AMG's, oil changes $200, major interval service = $1500, etc.

A 2002 (let alone, a 2002 AMG) has already suffered the massive depreciation. Few cars depreciate like an AMG, but the major hits have already passed on an '02.

While I would agree with the "overpriced, overengineered" and "image" comments on an S430, I do not agree that those apply to the AMG's.

As mentioned, unless you have the money, I'd steer clear.
