care to elaborate? i mean DARE tought me drugs are bad, they will kill you, here are the drugs and the effects of those drugs, dont do it.
what more is there to teach?

i mean i watched superman as a kid, my mom said people cant fly. if you try to fly you will die. i never did try and jump off a building to see if she was telling me the truth.

1 - they also told you marijuana kills brain cells...its been shown to stimulate cell growth in rats

2 - they told you marijuana causes cancer...yet a recent study shown in the washington post, is saying there is proof otherwise AND a suggestion of a protective effect

3 - they told you to let the police know if you see your parents doing these kinds of drugs...so report your parents so we can send you to foster care

and then they have the balls to talk about cocaine, heroin, etc etc. so when the kid that smokes weed figures out it isnt the devils lettuce...he might try something else that he was told was bad for him...only to realize it is, yet now its too late. dare is filled with almost nothing but propaganda because little kids are easy to influence...hence why my kid will never attend a dare presentation.

edit: your parents should of taught you that heroin and meth are bad...not some cop

well i also see commercials that say smoking directly causes cancer when that hasnt been proven either. i also think that its ridiculous that they allow the anti smoking commercials to have watdafxup as their add campaign but take commercials off the air everyday for being controversial, but thats besides the point.

completely agree with you that the parents should of been the ones to teach the kids. this generations parents however are the same parents that were hippies back in the day and most(at least alot of my friends parents) still smoke weed to this day.

most evidence shows that in actuality they dont want to legalize marijuana due to the affect it will have on the nations economy. cotton and corn industries would go under due to the many uses of marijuana. and how easy it would be to grow yourself. they wouldnt be able to make the tax dollars off it they do from cigarettes.

sure you make a valid point about marijuana but i see on shows like i mentioned before(intervention, other ae specials) the direct effects of crack, heroin, cocaine and i can visually see with my eyes without anyone telling me so that they are bad. i mean if you just watch E or anything like that you see all these stars with coke habits spiraling out of control. they cant even enjoy being millionaires because of their drug habits.

so we are exposed every minute of our lives by examples of why not to do drugs. again i stick to my previous thought. its darwinism at its best and you are a moron for doing those things.

Living in a border-state, myself, and seeing the problems caused by so many people illegally entering our country to have a child for the sole purpose of getting it citizenship so they can start taking home our welfare benefits, this is actually a point that has my support.

I have lived right on the border.. Ive seen illegal immigration more than most ppl in the united states.

I just think its wrong to send a baby back who was born here. That means I wouldnt have a lot of the friends i have today who are good people.

all the warnings i read on cigarettes say smoking MAY cause cancer. the fact is they dont know for sure how cancer is caused. hell the packs my parents have right now dont even say that. they say smoke contains carbon monoxide.

what they do know is that smoking weakens the lungs, which makes you more likely to get lung cancer.

i mean i have a gum pack right now that says that the sugar substitue may have caused cancer in lab rats but i dont see an ad campaign against CAREFREE.

All they have to do is apply for citizenship and do it right. Of course most of them are truly good people. Ron Paul isn't against immigration -- in fact, he wants to provide much more efficient (faster, better, more) ways of getting people through the system legally. I'm all for that.

ha ha no i just like to argue if you havent noticed lol fact is i hate smoking with a passion. i think its pointless.

but if it doesnt cause it 100% of the time how can you say smoking causes cancer. the fact is all they know is that a certain percentage of cigarette smokers have gotten cancer. they dont know how or why.

so if you cant prove how or why you cant say for sure that it does.

i mean hell i just read that they think it helps prevent alzheimers's so i guess you can find positives in everything.

to SRim23: i understand what your saying and im not going to turn this into an argument (as i dont want to mess up a good thread). i was actually going to erase what i wrote but i figured you had already quoted it so i left it. glad it didnt turn into an argument. i should of said, in my opinion i think dare is worthless

as for the tobacco comment. i have an article from the Washington post that has quotes from one of the men that does drug experiments for our own government.

the study went a little something like this:

tobacco smokers had a 20 fold increase in cancer at the end of the experiment, while marijuana smokers had a 0 fold increase AND a suggestion of a protective effect.

this on its own would make you wonder why the tobacco smokers had such a high rate, while the marijuana smokers didnt. i would assume they were exposed to the same environmental conditions that everyone else is which would only leave the tobacco as the likely cause. if it was smog, or some other cancer causing things...it should of showed up in both parties.

Are you switching back and forth between cigs and weed here??? Marijuana has been shown to stimulate the brain cells that deteriorate in the process of Alzheimer's. I don't think I've seen anything on tobacco doing this...or being beneficial at all.

actually, do research. there are over 5,000 chemicals in a single cigarette, and over 100 have been shown to cause cancer growth in test subjects (rats). you REALLY need to learn the truth before you talk about things you have no clue about.

and no, marijuana does not cause cancer. read some of the medical studies done (available on norml.org) about THC and it's cannabinoids reversing cancer growth/preventing it.

thats what i thought was weird...i saw the study showing cannabonoids seem to help prevent Alzheimer's...but not tobacco.
