Well, I think a compromise can be made on this. IF the parents of the child were legal citizens of the US to begin with, birthright citizenship should stay. However, if they were not, well then birthright citizenship shouldnt be granted. Even if 1 of the parents have legitimate citizenship, it should be given.
IMO, the way it currently is, its just a loophole. Im not saying people should be kicked out, ect. Anyone can still apply for citizenship. When my parents came here back in the day, they did it through a legit process and I came around well after they had both been citizens for over a decade.
I dont see whats wrong with that process & anyone coming here across the border only to get citizenship through birthright is using a loophole. Not to mention getting other governmental benefits, ect. all because they had a kid. Im not trying to throw a cheap shot at people coming here from south of the border, but they've done that in massive numbers throughout the last 20yrs.
Sure they work their ***'s off (I cant take that away) but fact is the majority work for cash only and arnt tax paying citizens. So, why would the rest of us tax paying citizens have to pay for their benefits when they themselves arnt paying taxes?
This can be said about anyone trying to do that, regardless of race. Just for a bit of background, I grew up in LA so ive been around **** near EVERY race so it really has nothing to do with race. I say that because some people love to take what I just said and twist it in a way that sounds racist when it really isnt.
I know people dont like to hear that, but thats the reality of whats happening. Its just another wound that our tax dollars bleeding out of, as is the war on drugs, along with this current war. Three loose ends that need to be tied. Thats ALL it boils down to for me & most likley his way to indirectly deal with that issue.
